Patchwork and Quilters

A group of very enthusiastic women meets every Monday for three hours from 9.30am to 12.30pm.  Members use an air-conditioned room of the Wesley Church Hall complex where there is good lighting and a number of power points for sewing machines.  We share a cuppa while discussing ideas and techniques for creating our quilts.

Members work on many different individual sewing projects, learning skills by helping one another, rather than by having a teacher who directs a project. Occasionally a skilled quilter is invited to demonstrate different patchwork or quilting techniques to the group or we organize a quilting-related outing. Once a year, we all co-operate in planning and sewing a group quilt which is donated to a charitable organization for their fundraising.  (In the past we have donated to the piano fund for the Wesley Uniting Church, the Mary Potter Foundation, Riding for the Disabled and the Carers’ Association.)

Both hand and machine sewers of all levels of expertise are welcome and beginners are encouraged to join us.  If you would like to join us on Monday mornings, or want more information, please feel free to phone 8331 9816.
