Monteverdi Singers

The Monteverdi Singers was formed in 1988 and is a vibrant and ambitious choir comprising approximately 40-50 members. The name Monteverdi was chosen to honour the great Italian composer of the 17th century, Claudio Monteverdi of Cremona. The Singers have sought to interpret the true spirit and passion synonymous with the music of Italian composers, in particular Claudio Monteverdi. It seeks to present musical works ranging from early classical to operatic, to folk, church, and modern classical music. It has been performing choral works in concerts, ceremonies and at events, in and around Adelaide, and in addition to booked performances; it aims to stage a major public concert each year.

The choir has continued to attract and educate young people in the appreciation and performance of the musical arts, fulfilling one of its aims of enriching the lives of the younger generation.
